Major update in City Cloud – Snapshots

We recently released a major update in City Cloud. Together with some performance upgrades and bugfixes in the City Cloud control panel we released a fantastic new feature!

Yes, it´s here, it´s just a click away and you can start taking snapshots right away.

Snapshots is a way of having your own disaster recovery right inside City Control Panel. Just activate the feature and let us do the rest. What we are doing is to quite simply take a snapshot of your entire server and hard drives, once every night, and let you restore to any one of the last 7 snapshots that we have taken.

How to start taking snapshots

All existing virtual servers in City Cloud have to be manually opted-in in order to take snapshots. All new machines have the snapshot feature selected by default in the creation process but as always, the choice is yours.

To activate snapshots on an existing virtual server, just navigate to the server details and activate the feature.

Restore to a certain snapshot

Restoring to a previous snapshot is as easy as 1-2-3.

1. Navigate to the snapshot-tab and choose which of the last 7 snapshots you would like to restore to.

The price of the snapshot feature is based on the size of your total accumulated storage and cost 15¢ per GB/month. So if you have a system disk with 20GB, the snapshot feature will cost approximately 3$ per month.

So there you have it. A simple feature managed in a simple way – as always with City Cloud. We hope you like this feature and if you have any questions, feel free to comment below.
